Three Laws of Affection

The following observations should help keep expectations low enough to avoid embarrassment. They have not yet been proven, but they hold empirically.
  1. Flirting from a person does not imply affection from said person.
  2. Perceived affection is in no way related to actual affection.
  3. Affection received from a person is inversely proportional to affection given to said person.
